vid card direct x woes

I Hae a nvidia 7300LE in my machine at work , which is a pretty new decent card.
The problem is that when I enable direct x in max the material has a blue glow to it. I have tried every driver , but still no joy. Anyone had this.
Could it be something none driver related?

try setting the ambient colour of the material to black, see if that makes a difference

yeah tried that MOP and n joy. Just wondered if anyone had the same card

is the blue hue apparent in the material editor and in renderings? if so, check the global ambient color under rendering->environment.
if it'S only in the viewport, see if it affects other direct-3d apps.

i have this problem when i run out memory, try reducing the texture sizes by half and seeing if it lets you view it then. i had a model with 2 materials and it would only let me view one at a time, when i enabled the second one i got a similar problem that you are having. also if there are multiple materials try only enabling the directx shaders on one of them.

actually it does it on any material that has the direct x manager enabled, even if there is no texture associated with that material.

try running dxdiag (start->run->dxdiag.exe) and verify that your card is actually accelerating stuff.

well, we put in a new vid card today and still no joy
As a last resort I reinstalled max and then it worked.

Its really odd though as I had this same problem using 3dsmax 9 trial version.

he he it turned out to be a plugin problem.nothing to do with the vid card

they were our own internal plugins . its now being sorted out hopefully.
