Concept Artist-Mechanical

Concept Art - Mechanical
What's it all about:
You're part artist, and part mechanical engineer. You love drawing vehicles, props and armor, the more the stuff looks like it could actually work, the better. You create objects of desire, and you want to inspire players to greed and lust whenever they see your work. On the team, you are helping drive the visualization of new worlds and new ideas. Your concepts are the bedrock upon which the modeling and texturing team executes. You are visionary, but practical, and always flexible enough to blend your ideas with others to create a greater whole or to adapt to the practical needs of game production.
A typical day:
You've come out of a meeting with the art director, lead concept artist and design team where you discussed and brainstormed a variety of siege vehicles that need to be created for the next milestone. You spend a few hours roughing out a couple of key ideas that are burning in your head, and call over the art director, lead concept artist, and design director to see which directions they like the most. After debating the merits of a few key designs, the team chooses one to take to a full production drawing. You produce a final perspective render and orthographic projections, and check them in so that the modeling department will be ready to go tomorrow to build the final design.
Who you work with the most:
Most of your time is spent in deep visualization discussions with the lead concept artist, art director and design team. Together you help shape the look and feel of the world while supporting the goals of the game's design.
What you've done before:
* Strong digital illustration skills using Adobe Photoshop
* Proven experience in mechanical, industrial or vehicle design
* Ability to develop and adapt to a range of art styles
* Strong mechanical sense
* Excellent communication skills
* Passion for games
