This is the model. The poly count right now is a little over 2k , but this is just so I can make a high poly res for the normal map. I like everything to be quads, then triangulate what I need in the final to lower the poly count.
Are we only allowed 2 512x512 maps of diffuse with normal or something else? Am I able to have 2 512x512 of diffuse, 2 512x512 of normal, and 2 512x512 of spec? I really don't understand what 2x 512px mean.
You can use 2 512X512 maps. For example you can use the one for the character (this includes the diffuse, normal, spec and illumination maps), and the other 512 for an environment (including diff,normal,spec,ill). So thats 2 diffuse maps, 2 normal maps, 2 spec maps and 2 illumination maps.
Here are some test of normal and diffuse shots. They're not the latest, but they will do for now. These will not be my final normals or textures. It's around 1840 poly, still need to add a little more things. This boar has boaritis which causes red pigments on the face :-p maybe he will be cured soon.
Hm... I don't think it looks nearly as good as it coluld. Reminds me of some of the gothic3 chars (which look crappy in my opinion) - the overall appearance is similar to the ogre and the fur is like the one of their wolf (not so bad though, thank goodness, but it is still much too smooth. A guy like this should look a lot more shaggy)
I think you should use ambient occlusion too.
And btw, its tail looks like it is taking a crap :P
I have yet to see what it would look like without that red blotch on its face.
EVERYTHING can look better as it could but yours, is really looking good!

It's just that some of the problems are not very difficult to fix and would still change the picture.
BTW, will you add the cloth around the hips like on the concept?
Anyways here a beauty render he's 1,973 tris. I think I will pose him and put a weapon on him. A bone weapon like a club it pretty small amount polys so the total will be 2000.
