i am usually not for bells and whistles and stuff, but i found it neat that this is a non OS specific desktop with features from windows vista and osx. i havent installed it yet but plan on checking it out. its all 3d and i think i seen something about it before, but now it has reached a 1.0 status..

I've used this before and it's pretty cool, but it wasn't very stable or complete. It was very beta at that time though. Do you know if 1.0 is a non-beta stage?

    you'd assume as much from a 1.0, wouldn't you?
This thing's been in development for a few years allready if i'm not mistaken, so this could very well be a finished build.
I never knew it wasn't OS specific, that *is pretty neat, i'll admit. I usually end up turning off the shiny stuff after a few days of 'hey, this is neat' anyway, since it tends to get in the way.
Admittedly some of the newer linux-desktops do *feel a lot smoother than windows, which does a lot for the user experience. Windows xp tends to white-out or hang pretty quickly when something's loading, i find.

tried it a few day back on my Linux box when the 1.0 version was announced.
The cool thing about it is that they really try to get some usefull features out of a 3D desktop, instead of it just beeing eye-candy.
But it really is just a experimental test desktop that is no where even near to beeing useable, so that 1.0 is pretty confusing. It should be better called 0.010 alpha version wink.gif

See, that's why I asked... 1.0 does suggest non-beta, but it sounds like it's still in the beta stage. There wasn't too much useful about it when I tested it other than organizing your CD catalog wink.gif I would like to see how they've improved upon it though.
