So I've been trying to get a custom player model working in HL2DM and I can't seem to get it to switch to my new model. The model is compiled and has been placed in its own directory in the game, but I can't seem to get the engine to switch to it using either the cl_playermodel command or the setmodel command in the console.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this might be? Is there some special file that needs to be present aside from the model files and the textures? Or is there a specific folder structure required?

Thanks!

I don't know much about HL2 modding but I guess you may try replacing an original player model with yours to check the correctness of your file/folder structure.
Good luck with the Source engine smile.gif

Yeah that worked. I renamed the model to combine_soldier in the main model directory and it works fine so I'm guessing the new models need to be coded in before the game will recognise them as players. Which seems a little odd that HL2's Plugin Player Model support is so limited to simply replacing the original models... even HL1 supported custom PPMs without code.
