Any body feel like giving some advice on making some nice hands for low poly models? Always a difficult part for me. Maybe just post up some shots of the ones you like to use as a base? Thanks
Here is what I have after a quick 10 minutes:
Personally, I find for low poly hands making the fingers 4 sided and like that make for not only annoying textureing, but also just a weird looking finger. Here's how I usually go about low poly hands
This hand is about 270, and it could probably have some shaved off of it.
edit: poop's hand models are still some of the best i've seen, both lowpoly and highpoly versions - intensely good feeling of tension and volume in them.
Thanks guys for contributing, really helped me out!
xskinxy- good to see a new baltimorian showing up on this board, let me know if you ever want to meet up for a modelling session.
Per, your post makes me feel like the guy in this gif:
I learned how to draw by tracing, so I guess I learn by example. I will make an effort to do more on my own though.
Here is what I got, I am trying to model a hand in a leather glove, I guess Bryan's hand helped me out the most here, thanks
hopefully this thread will be of use to others though.

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks guys for contributing, it really helped me out too. I'm still studying the human anatomy and I was just on hands so now I can save these for future references whenever I get to where I have to model a hand.
I made this hand first, using my own hands as reference, I started from a box, and made the fingers from cylinders. I modeled the index finger, then cloned it around for the other three, which I modeled in this pose for extra details. Very little life shows in a hand with fingers outstretched. The thumb was extruded out using strips, and just the tip was used from the index finger, then morphed. I build the low poly posted previously in this thread, by strip modeling over top of this one for proportions. I wanted to start the low poly from scratch and really pay attention to edge flow. I placed the joint locations myself to ensure it worked with my topology so the hand would feel "fisty" when balled up. The normal map came from this high poly, plus a greyscale layer for the veins and knuckle wrinkles, and creases in the palm.

*edit, here's a wire of it, no normal.

Although I am no master of modeling, I'd like to add that fingers do not merge into the hand so sharp. There's a transition as far as I see.
Thanks everyone who posted their hands BTW. Those really help a lot
