Why couldn't they do it right the first time, leave out the Blu-Ray, charge gamers less and stick it in the AV version where it belongs?

exactly, they keep wanting to make their game consoles/portables "multi-media machines"... if i was to buy a handheld or a console I BUY IT TO PLAY GAMES, not to watch movies and crap. however they insist on driving up the price by doing just that, trying to make one device to capture multiple markets, which just doesn't work well in reality, a place where they are long gone from.
Wait, I thought that's what the PS3 was geared towards anyway. I'm sure the price was already enough to alienate a good percentage of the gamer audience. Oh well. They are calling the shots.

There are plenty of relatively wealthy indivduals out there willing to spend a couple grand on expensive entertainment hardware.
It isn't uncommon for someone to spend thousands on a TV, reciever, stereo system, speakers, DVD players, etc, etc.
I don't think this particulare product is to be aimed at gamers. But more the entertainment hardware nut.
it's so much fun these days to work on a PS3 exclusive title, really. you begin to reach new levels of sarcasm, previously unknown to mankind.
I think they have lost it though.
