My Wacom tablet seems to have suddenly lost about half of its refresh rate. I can see it stuttering its way across the screen and it leaves a bumpy edged line in Photoshop.
I tried to open Wacom settings dialogue but the window refused to open. I thought perhaps these problems were linked, so I downloaded and installed the latest drivers after uninstalling the old ones. This hasn't helped and the new drivers have only the most basic options in the settings window.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I might rectify this situation?
EDIT: I'm wondering whether its a memory issue. The mouse seems to be chugging around too, so its probably not a Wacom issue. I've only got one drive, so the scratch disk is using the same memory as everything else. If I was to make a new partition for just the scratch disk, would this be likely to affect the smoothness of the brush movement?

what if photoshop's open, but not in focus (ie. you're using the tablet in another app) - does it still stutter then?
I'm not sure how much making a partition on the same drive for scratch data would help the situation, since it's still using the same physical drive.
Have you defragged your hard drive lately?
Its been a long time since I've defragmented the hard drive. I'll give that a shot next.
