whats up everyone. just wanted to post up my first character I did for a ww2 game. its around 11k polys with diffuse, normals, and spec maps. Any coments would be cool. thanks.
hey man, so this is your first character? ever?, if so looks very good...might wanna check a wireframe..Besides that, there are a few things you can do to spice this up. The boots need a different texture because right now they are getting washed in with the overall noise/cloth material that encompasses the whole piece. Most of the outfit is completely black, which makes it very hard to distinguish much, it's usually a good idea to avoid black in mass quantities unless it is a hue of purple or something with a little bit of color added in.
The arm looks nice, but the fingers are scaring me. The thumb is starting to look like an earthworm, hehe...Might wanna revise the normal map on that , and possibly widen the thumb there.
Anyway, nice first model.keep postin bro.
Oh and take a look at daz's nazi for a damn good reference, its probably the best thing hes ever done...It took him like three hours to finish the shading on his upper lip.
Looks a helluva lot better than my first character...Right now he looks like a greased up, glowing eyed Nazi of doom....tone down the spec on his skin, and break it up with some noise so it's not one smooth sheen...Same with the spec on the uniform. Also there is a very visible seem running down his forearm...

I would think about his pose and using nazi symbol on it. As you probably know it is forbiden to use this kind of symbols in the game (some stupid international law...) So I would think if you want to have samething that is forbiden in your porfolio. You can easilly change the symbol for something similar (black eagle, Lighting bolt etc.)
