Lowpoly to highpoly script?

Hey all...I love pushing polys but still cant help but wonder if theres a script for 3ds max that "pop" the lowpoly shell to fit the highpoly mesh? It would save HUGE amount of time :O

never tried this but curious how well this actually works? anyone tried it out?

yeah, it works very well. i haven't tried it for snapping a full character or anything, but as a test I ran it on a 20,000 poly mesh, it snapped pretty much perfectly (although it took ages to see the result, Arshlevon gave a tip that you should use it only on groups of verts at a time, faster and easier to see if it's not snapping correctly).

Hmm yes, it actually works quite well...I recall now I used some similar software some years ago? maybe also tims scripts? But this has way better math :P But it takes time! (havent tried it on a Core 2 Duo processor yet though)Ill try out the tip about groups of verts ^^...thx again!

yeah, there's a script out there called xyShrinkWrap that seems to work pretty well. I think I found it at highend3d.

I think he means select a bunch of verts on your low poly, then shrinkwrap it to the high poly object. Then select different verts on the low poly and repeate the process.

before running the script, select a group of verts. then you will be prompted to choose which geo to conform to.

I was really looking for something like this to be put in Max9, only more polished. Hopefully they will put in a service pack or something =/

In Maya 8 there's a new transfer attributes tool that does it. It's so fast, you can drag your low poly mesh around and watch it slide along the high rez, pretty cool!

This should probably be possible in Silo as well, i think i'll give that a go right now. I've never even played around with the snap-tools yet, it's hightime i did
