His vocation might be off. If he actually works with steel thats normally very hot work and getting small burns comes with the job. If he works in a forge or is a welder he wouldn't last long. Maybe change him into a mechanic, crane operator or coal shoveling monkey? Either way you go, he will need more protection than a loin cloth and some goggles. You're still quite a way from being finished but the lack of protection in the concept is a bit worrying?
thank you guys.
Yes he is very simple and thats my intention. This guy is just for practicing to get models into an existing engine, so not for a mod really. It's true that he wouldnt last long in real life if he was a steelworker in a hot environment but i just wanted to make a funny character
edit: oops pressed the ok button too quick. What i originally had in mind was some kind of small working slave. There fore they don't have too much protection. Just the necessary stuff to be able to work. My thought was that there should be many of these guys, like mobs in a mmorpg game.
ahh not a teamster but expendable, cool. In that case it fits perfect. I suggest some kind of metal mind control stud in his head or a lobotomy scar. It would be cool to see a few deep burn scars or maybe even scars that started to grow over metal that splashed on him in a past accident, hardened and was left in. All skin work I guess.
To tie into the slave, painful ear pinching goggle aspect of things, you might want to force the edges of the goggles to dig into his face and pull the flesh out around it like the goggles have been there so long it is almost accepted as an extended body part. Kind of like when tree roots grow around a rock. If you've ever warn swimming goggle too tight, for too long you kind of know what I'm getting at.
Something kind of like this. Where they have been tight for so long the face is either growing past the goggles or the goggles are cutting into the face.
So ive been taking it easy today exporting some normal maps and stuff. The heavy work is done on the normal maps and now its time to add small stuff with nvidias normal map filter
Im still thinking about details on the googles and some kind of thing in his head...
yea it looks real awesome, straight out of oddworld!
however i really think you should take the google into your 3d app and get some nice techy bits on there and then bake out a normal map. The look bland and pretty undetailed as it is
I have been fighting with doom 3 the latest couple of days and finally got the mesh in to the game. It has alot of ugly seams otherwise it looks ok i think.

I see what you are saying motives, but i want the googles kind of clean.
Keep it up, I can't wait to see it finished.
You're definitely inspiring me to do more characters as I see each new update of progress
Keep it up!
Looking nice man, I didn't expect the dirty sanchez stache, not sure how I'm feeling about it yet, but cool style on all the rest.
