Yes yes, Those peeps keep the shit rollin'
No complaints here.
This designer said the other day as I was modeling in Silo
(He can't even model a cube BTW) "Whats that Bryce?"
I actually felt like bitch slapping the fool.
Some people will never learn...
You need a key for silo 1.4, so it's not really very public. It's just more public than the closed beta, heh.
it's dirt-cheap though, and worth it if you're looking for a cheap modeller/displacement painter.
About fucking time this came out as well, they've been saying it was 'just about ready' for weeks now.
I plan on giving this a run over the holidays. I'm curious, though, and I could use the opinion of someone who's more experienced with competing software packages: can silo measure up to ZBrush or Mudbox for high-poly sculpting and normal map generation? If so, does anyone expect Silo 2 to become a legitimate competitor against the big-name franchises (the price tag is a hell of a lot nicer), and if not, where does it fall short?
Silo is great for sculpting, but it doesn't reach the level of zbrush or mudbox. However it does let you do poly modelling and sculpting at the same time, retopologising etc.
It's great up to the stage of microdetail, where you'd be better off in mudbox or zbrush at that point. It's also not used as much in the industry as zbrush (and I'm sure mudbox too since it's out now), so that's a bit of a negative.
