Reporting directly to the Producer, the Artist will be responsible for creating art resources for mobile game development.
Essential responsibilities and duties
Projects - actively participate in all stages of a project life cycle in conjunction with the full project team (design, code, QA, etc). This includes pre-production game development (accurate estimates, art implemented as requested), and smooth/timely handover into porting. Ensure all project deliverables are maintained to appropriate standards.
Art Creation - understand and apply "best practices". This includes the creation of the highest quality art assets within the limitations set down by the team. Creating the right quality of assets and understanding the limitations of mobile game development. Working with the coding team to improve the art pipeline and delivering the art at the right time to support the game development. Working with marketing to supply marketing material to support the release of the game.
Requirements, Qualifications and Experience
* Degree or relevant qualification in Art (or graphic design).
* Knowledge of the production of digital art assets and techniques in the use of these assets in the development on computer games.
* Competent in the use of all tools used in the production of art for mobile development. This includes Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and 3D Studio Max. Stay abreast of new tools/technology.
* Ability to produce artwork at a pixel level in various styles and sizes.
* Good understanding of the principles of animation.
* Drawing/sketching/illustration abilities.
* Understanding of optimization and an ability to produce assets following constraints.
* Low poly 3d modeling/texturing skills would be an advantage.
* Practical experience of creating art used in mobile game development.
* Good communication skills and an ability to work both as a part of a team and on your own.
* An awareness of the mobile games and games industry in general.
