Hey, just did this level for unreal. It's a single player Indiana Jones-esque adventuring map. The file is pretty big (everything in it is fully custom made) so I won't throw it up for download unless someone is actually interested in playing it. (Which would be awesome.)
It was made for a class where we were supposed to make a level for a demo reel. I'm not sure that it's up to snuff, what do you guys think?
Anyways, here's some screens (there's more to the level, but I don't want to overload the images), I'd love to hear what you guys have to think.
I think it looks quite nice. The textures seem really low res though :S. I have not got any experience with ut2k4, so I am not sure. The flag is a nice touch :P
Thanks guys ANd it'd be great if you guys would go over it.
Sorry about the file size (50 megs), I haven't had time to properly optimize anything yet. This was all just built in just over a month with a couple of other huge projects taking up a lot of my time as well. (if I get some time soon here I'll optimize it better and try to reduce my file size.)
(Oh, and I wasn't able to figure out how to make it a single player game [yet] so that bots don't spawn. You might have to do a killbots in the console.)
And Smirnoffka, you seem to be right. Looks like I could go in and sharpen the hoodoos up. Thanks.
I think you could go for some bounce light in areas to kill some of the blackness on the rocks.
also, where you have grass, consider another terrain texture to hide the grass - terrain seam. a simple sand + fallen grass could do the trick.
some little signs with danger symbols could be cool scattered through the terrain there. or a bomb with a circle+cross could be cool, as if it were a mine feild, or there was some reason why someone decided to take time to put a sign there telling you to be careful.
