I have been approached with an Environment modelling position for one of the majors. it's nto Character work or animation but I have done environments in the past for PS2 Games and PC games, and.. Well I need the money and the project sounds more than fun. So I am in the middle of the art test, getting the geometry for the main part (an Alleyway) done/ and I am unable to do some basic things in Maya, mostly because I haven't touched Maya in months, and forgot, and 2.) was animating the year hbefor that.
1.) I am unable to get texture to show in any of the windows when I work. What check box or button did I leave unpressed to make the textures display in the shaded view?
2.) Not being able to display the layout mapd (Scanned in Graph paper map of the Level). I used Image planes. Nopw that I am done with them, How do I remove them?
3.) Any other tips for maiking nive levels? trying to keep the main Buildoings and pavement less than 2500, and ise Instancing for the Dumptsers, bins, barrels and telephone poles.
Work so far:
Glorious Downtown Los Angeles, near the Staples Center. :-)

2. You can right click (I think) and then break the connection for the image plane, or just delete the path in the field. I personally use planes with the texture on and set them on a seperate layer and lock.
Edit- I still can't seem to figure this one out properly, but if you check the image plane attributes you should see a Display mode option, and setting it to NONE hides it.
3. I'm not sure what you mean there, maybe somebody else might know but it's unclear. I guess hit insert to change the pivot and move it down so you can slant poles and whatnot easier.
