Hey has anyone ever seen this before? This is the outcome i get when adding a texture to an object in maya 8.0. I have assignments due, and this is making it extremely difficult to get them handed in, in time.
Please help me fix this problem.

I can only wildly guess that the default UV's upon primitive creation aren't what you need, and you'll need to make your own.
Either that or this texture doesn't look like you intended . Either way, more info required
it looks like your've applied no uv coords youself... although as daz said, we have no idea what you're trying to achieve anyhow, need more info.
Thats just a guess, but I think you should probably ask a classmates as they can sit at a chair next to you and see exactly whats wrong otherwise more info is needed for a diagnosis
all you need to do is tighten the graphics.

that ad was hillarious
thanks for the input tho.
The sphere was simply my example of an object to demonstrate just exactly what the program was doing when a texture was applied CORRECTLY. Your smart ass comment however, is appreciated.

it was not our fault, but yours. you were not very detailed at all. it sort of like me asking,
"here is my model, and i have a problem, can you help?"

You guys are all comedians eh? maybe you should look into that instead of continueing to model. By looking at some of your sites it looks like you would be a lot more successful on stage then in a studio.

You posted a picture of a sphere with a funky coloured texture map on it. You said 'please help me'. It genuinely was NOT and still isn't clear to me precisely what was wrong with that sphere.
Twice I asked you nicely what the problem was. I now no longer wish to help. I hope you figured it out on your own. Oh and yeah, welcome to polycount. You seem to be able to provide some valuable in depth critique on peoples portfolios, so why not hang out in the P&P section a bit more?

coming from a guy who can't texture a sphere? Ok, I'll keep that in mind.
