I've considered modelling up environment structures and get them 3d-printed for use in dioramas or tabletop games, would probably be quite fun to paint up for real...
They have been improving the material quality to be better but most of them are still pretty weak. What normally happens is you use the print to make a mold and cast something more permanent. Depending on the quality of the printer used you might have to clean it up. Even if its of good quality you might want to take the chance to deepen or refine some of the detail it might miss or not have done so well.
