Proper Rigging(3DS Max 8)

As you can see, I'm having a lot of deform problems. He looks fine standing up, walking around, etc. but with more extreme positions and twisting/rotating of bones that's where I'm having some serious problems. I'm having trouble finding any tutorials online on how to solve this kind of problem so I was hoping you guys could point me out to a useful tutorial or write something up to help me if you have the time. I'm using 3DS Max 8.
