This is loosely based on a south park episode of all things. One of the episodes from the new season featured a future which had Otters as one of the 3 dominant races on earth. I loved the concept so much I decided to do my own version of it. The ones from the episodes had futuristic armor, I decided to go with something a bit more fantasy-ish. It is meant to just be a fun project that I don't have to spend that much time on. This only took me 2 days to do.
This is actually the first model I've made of an animal. Everything until now has been humanoid , just a random prop of some kind and other miscellaneous things. It's also been awhile since I've made a model that wasn't normal mapped, and has a predominantly hand painted texture.
930 tris with a 512x512 texture.

I'm now blocking out his steed, which happens to be an Ostrich(also taken from the South Park episode).
C&C is welcomed!

Nah great work neo_god, I can certainly see your work looking more and more professional/refined, you should be proud excellent
Other than that, looks awesome
New Oblivion player model
I dare anyone to make a realistic human player model of the soldiers from the United Atheist Alliance, or Alliance Atheists League... Hrmm maybe I'll give it a shot when I get home. By the way, if you want to watch the episode "Go God Go" you can find it on www.allsp.com
Lord Scottish, It's weird, as far as the armor is concerned I just doodled some lines on the model in Tattoo. And that was just what turned up, haha.
Spear, That is just the basic shape I blocked out so I could get a good start. The next step is to add more detail, one of which will be some alpha planes for the feathers.
Erik!, it's funny while working on it, I was thinking how much it looked like it would fit into Narnia, haha.
Steady, It would be interesting to see the ones that look like they have condom tips for hats, haha.
I would like to see more armor flaps hanging down the otters back to help cover up the texture seam and give him more protection.
He is really cool looking! Nice work!
p.s.
Triple A is far more logical!
NICE!
Here's a small update of the Otter. I think I may give him a little skull cap too.
I love it! keep it up!
I'm going by my memory of the Discovery Channel but I remember otters always being wet and oily. Some wet highlights on his fur or maybe a spec map might look cool But if he's riding around on his ostrich I guess he'd eventually dry off :P
Next, a badger berserker :P
wow that was lame (srry for that, i just came back from school and im tired... i shoulda been able to make up something better)

no but seriously... its cool... and as oobersli mentioned; do a vid when ur done with a whole range of otters. Like, an epic battle: Otters allied with Beavers against... umm... u get the point...
I love the model, it's hilariously well-made. Makes me happy
Texture looks great so far. A helmet sounds like a good idea.
Great work dude, with that ostrich mount it'll be a PIMP piece! I think you need to showcase the character on a lighter shade of grey however.
Can't wait to see the ostrich.
Syaped, yeah, I was thinking of adding some highlights to the fur, and I don't really want a spec map for this, I'd like to keep it as simple as possible.
Xaltar, A chain mail coif might be a good idea, I'm still fooling around with helmet concepts. As far as a badger berserker? Maybe, a whole mammalian army would be a cool series to do. And these guys can just be a the cavalry, haha.
Hobodactyl, I had to look up redwall to know what you were talking about, but when I saw the stuff, I actually remember seeing these books in my brother's fantasy book collection. Perhaps they some subconscious inspiration.
Indian_boy, I think I'll be leaving war paint out. I've never been a fan of it.
Ebagg, most likely, since the color of his armor is greyish, I think I might make the backround a color instead, nothing that will over power the model's texture, perhaps light golden type color, I don't know.
Poop, thanks! Yeah, I'll make suer to put some more shadow work, maybe even paint on some hairs overlaying onto the fabric near the neckline.
Now, I finally got to go back to work on this, here's an update on the ostrich steed. I just got done unwrapping it, so I'll be textureing it tonight. 900 tris.
