A bajillion trillion GAZILLION Dollars, and 67 cents.
It's so rad, cause I work at sony so they are giving me like 10 of them, and Im gonna sell them on ebay and retire.
debatable, they are going for over $2000 at the moment, but North America get more ps3's (400,000) than everyone else, so you never know, they might not sell out so quickly. Japan only got 100,000 or something equally ridiculous. That's like 5 per shop.
I would sell it for what I paid for it, perhaps a tiny bit more if I had to wait in line or something.
It annoys me that people buy these things just to sell them at a markup on ebay. Personally, I don't care about money enough to stomp on others like that.
Heh, I worked for Sony for 3 yrs and I don't remember getting any good deals on the PS2. We got good deals on new and refurbished items, but not the PS2 due to the loss they took on each system. They must be wanting to really keep you guys as I know they have to be taking even a greater loss on the PS3. Also, I thought that the new # of PS3's to the american public was now down to 150,000 units, as the promised 100,000 to japan was really only around 90,000. And of course europe will be only getting 3, so you better like sharing:) Ohhh, and I would sell mine for around $3,000 as now with the new low numbers, that jacks the price up alot.

haha whatever, if had a pocket full of gold i would sell that crap. there is no reason not to. there are going to be a billion zillion trillion ps3s by this time next year. these are not the last ones on earth. if i could get one i would sell it instantly. if people are that dumb to pay so much for something that is going be more than accessible in less than year then they need to have their money taken. there is a stupid tax, and this is it.

Agreed, but at the same time it's simply going off the fundamentals of the economy. Buy low(er), sell high(er). Guess we can't get upset that people are mimicking the most obvious stock market trend. A lot of people make a living off ebaying, and it'd be silly for someone like that to not hop on the bandwagon that had bought something for 600-1200 and sell it for upward 1500-1600.
I agree, but I still think it's just...morally wrong I guess, to buy something like a PS3 for the soul purpose of re-selling it. I mean for the most part these are gamers, people who care a great deal about the games they play. They're not able to play these games because all the douchebags without real jobs are out there sitting in line for a day so they can just make a quick buck. I think if they're not gonna use it, they shouldn't be buying it. They're not retailers they're thieves. At the same time though...I do agree with the stupid tax. Anyone willing to pay more than the already expensive price of a PS3 is infact stupid.
i care a great deal about living in house, i am not a big fan of the forest, or the desert for a living habitat, though they are nice places to visit.. you could even say i really want to live in a house or an apartment really bad. but i dont see anything wrong with people that dont have anything better to do than buy and sell places to live for a quick buck. it just kind of the way things work. i feel no special connection with gamers to the point where there is a moral responsibility on my part to treat them like brothers. if i had a box of chicken bones and then found out there are people who pay thousands of dollars for chicken bones, i would sell my chicken bones even though i didnt pay thousands for them.. but i guess i am just an asshole.
Hahaha, nice arsh. I agree with both, it goes hand in hand that only stupid people would actually pay that kind of buck for the system, and they are the same people that are promoting that the average consumer wants to drop $1,500 on a system. Not saying I haven't done that, for computers at least, but it's still wrong that the supplier would put such a pinch on a product that they know will sell even at their rediculous $600 price point (same thing is happening with Tickle Me Elmo Xtreme or whatever the hell it's called). Honestly though, it's just something for us to laugh at as humans with greater intelligence
Then again these people must be doing something right if they can afford to dish out this much extra cash because they want the system on launch day.
whats moraly wrong is having such a boner for a stupid little toy you would pay 3 grand for it, or stand in line for a week for it. its a fucking video game.. NO ONE "NEEDS" one. now if it was a hurricane and people were dropping dead of starvation and lack of water.. then i think it would be moraly wrong to charge 200 bucks for a gallon of water. but again.. the ps3 is a FUCKING TOY.
I agree that a person would have to be a moron (or at least, have more money than brains) to buy a video game console at such a huge markup, but I also agree that this sort of economic speculation is immoral to a degree. A person who makes a living this way is essentially a leech who exploits the market; they contribute nothing to society.
That being said, if someone wants to make a living this way (or just a little extra cash on the side), so be it. I also think that marketing is a pretty loathsome industry, but that doesn't mean I don't think people should be allowed to pursue that as a career (it just means they have no soul ).
Just to prove the stupidity, check out the news. A Walmart had to close because a bunch of idiots waiting for the PS3, ran thru the store, knocking over people.
So, I guess human life is worth less than a PS3.
Dont forget the shooting of the PS3 line in Kentucky. Apparently the Sony centre in downtown SF was utter chaos earlier today. PS3's are going for 5 grand. People are utter retards and I really dont care if someone is making tons of money from gullible idiots willing to shell out that kind of coin for a games system. I dont even get what the fuss is about anyway. It aint near the machine sony made it out to be. Killzone 2, hahahah wtf.
From the Gamespot Call Of Duty 3 Playstation3 review:
"There are a couple of visual issues that mar the otherwise great graphics. Key amongst these is the erratic frame rate. It was fast and mostly smooth on the 360, but the game's extremely choppy on the PlayStation 3. This problem isn't limited to hectic battle sequences either--it'll chug in rooms that are completely empty."
doh. Excuse me whilst I don't run out and buy this particular overhyped overpriced console in the midst of a riot.
I was down at the Metreon in SF this morning. Not really chaos, but a lot of trash left by the campers. Wasn't worth waiting for it while standing over half-empty McNugget boxes.
I mean I'm as excited as anybody else and would have loved to have got one at launch, but yea not in the mess of the sidewalk that was.
I heard one of the features they came up with for the PS3 was it works like a replacement kidney. I thought everyone in line was on a transplant list. Now that I find out they are just shomes wanting the next tickle-me-ps3.
Don't bother standing in line when you can make just as much cash selling PS3 boxes you make yourself. Just like that one guy did with the 360. The price of a cardboard box is much lower overhead than actually buying a unit... duh... And all you capitalist thought you are is s-m-a-r-t-s.
You know what I don't get? Some of those people who will be buying the PS3 on ebay for thousands of dollars are probably some of the same people who complained when Sony announced that they would cost $499-$599 per unit.
i totally get it.. the xbox 360 may have gears of war, and you may just be able to buy it.. BUT what the world is really waiting on is afrika! http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/adventure/afrika/screenindex.html
makes me want to go shoot someone for a ps3 right now
Sony actually made enough units to fill demand but decided to hold 90% of them back to create a demand. Where are the 90% they aren't shipping? On ebay. Its all a scam to make back the money they are losing per actual unit sold!
I wonder how many of these big ebay sales are legit. I wonder if people are going on there (as usual) and outbiding legit buyers, with rediculous bids.

Too late they already staged a fake alien abduction about 2 years ago and installed a chip in my head. Ironically its the same chip you could install to hack your PS to play copied games. They didn't count on me holding the little pin down and putting my noggin in the microwave. I still get all their subliminal messages but thanks to the microwave, I'm immune to them. I taste copper when it rains but thats a small price to pay to have the inside scope on TEH MAN!!!11
The Walmart I work at unloading trucks, got 8 PS3. At 12 am they allowed the people with tickets to purchase them. I herd people were camping outside Tuesday to get their tickets. I have a friend at the store that preordered 3 of them to sell them on ebay. He got 1600 for each. The kid is still in high school. He also did that when the PS2 came out and people were willing to sell their souls to have one for Christmas. 600 usd for a video game system = insane. I was happy to se the new Nintendo system going for 254 usd. Now that is more like it.
I guess there were about 15 people camped outside of my wife's Hollywood Video store, waiting for the Game Crazy attachment store to open. We were there a couple hours before opening so she could get things ready before we went to go see Casino Royale. The funny thing was that her store wasn't even getting any on opening day. They would have probably had 10-15, but then the shipments got cut down several times, so not even one made it to that store.
Just so you guys know, I really dont have 10 ps3's at my house hehe, it was just a little joke, Please don't track me down and demand my ps3's at gunpoint! PS3 INSANITY
Luxury it's quite easy for him to make that money. He was been working over 20hrs for over a year at Walmart alone and I'm sure his parents make good money as well. Also he doesn't have any expenses, no rent, maybe a car but he is too young to drive it by himself with the new laws in MA. He would get the money from what he makes at work. He also seems to be very good at making money. Investing in the PS2 system when it came out like he did was pretty risky. I imagine he also did it when the xbox and xbox 360 came out. There were people camping today for the freaking Nintendo. He was planning on buyin that. He is a good kid and pretty hard working.

also, you may have trouble with ebay, as they are keeping a close eye on ps3 sales - they will close your auction if you try to sell one:

Oh the Holidays!
besides, the first batch of consoles released always has bugs and issues. I'll wait for things to calm down until I get a new system.
