This may have been brought up before but I just ran across it and it appears to be by far the very coolest astronomy program ever conceived and it's free:

The custom assets look neat. Some Arrakis textures and Dune ship models might take up what's left of my free time!

totally awesome and cross-platform too! Rocking it on my intel Macbook flawlessly! This would be a great teaching age for science class, it really gives you a sense of scale that diagrams or explanations can't really convey (if the earth were a tennis ball than mars would be over in... etc, etc). I went to Mars and was really surprised how small it's moons looked, I mean, I always knew they were tiny but yowzers!
