Hey all, Noob here, but learning as much as I can.
I know that all games eventually convert quads into tris. So my question is, is there a way to calculate how many polygons your model currently uses? I use 3dmax.
Also, how many polygon is usally attributed in making sections of the character? How many is used for the head, torso, etc.?
Thanks all,

If you have an Editable Poly object, it will tell you how many polygons you have selected in any particular area, it's in the Selection rollout in the Modify panel.
Also, if you are just getting into low poly characters, try making one about 3K total tris. Half in the head, and half in the rest of the body. Also try keeping the polies evenly distributed in the whole model.
I got the "Press 7" to work. But is there an option that counts all the polygons on stage?
Cybroxide, I can't find that option. Would you be able to give me a hint in this format or anyone else:
File>Mode>Type
Thank you,
it's on the right by in your modify panel. Go all the way to the right side of it, I believe the icon is a hammer. Then go to more, and look for the polygon counter.

Max 9 doesnt have the Polygon Counter anymore. Craptastic!!
my favourite tool. gone...
...because there is a viewport statistics option now. It replaced both the polycounter and the 7 key tool. You can change the reported statistics by right clicking on the viewport name, going to the Statistics tab, and checking and unchecking the options you want.
Does anyone know how to do poly counts and such in Blender3d?

It's right in the top-right corner. To get a triangle count, just temporarily convert quads to tris, and undo after.
