I need to record video off of my ps2 to capture the games I have worked on. I will mainly grab screen shots. I figure that component will give me the best quality...
Does anyone know of a cheap ($50-100) usb capture device for this?
If you want component input, you're going to have to shell out at least 150 bucks for a cheap one. S-video should work fine for you since the PS2 can only output 480p over component anyway (except for GT4). If you can deal with S-video, get the Adaptec Gamebridge. It's a USB capture device that was made for games and it tries to eliminate the video lag that people experience when using other input cards. On most cards that are meant for recording video there is a noticeable delay from when you hit a button to when something happens on the screen, which makes games really hard to play. I own the Gamebridge myself and it works pretty well. There is still a slight delay, but nothing you would notice unless you were going out of your way to notice it. Here is a link to froogle with lots of places you can buy it, many under $20 USD. http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=adap...e&scoring=p
If your video card is ViVo compatible then guess what you can just plug your PS2 there and use some free software to view/record it. Like DScaler (www.dscaler.org) works great.
