as per your article, Orph: you've got an intro, not really an article. Brevity is good, but it'd be worthwhile to contribute some sort of perspective on each of the three console models, elaborate on Sony's 10 year cycle as opposed to the others, etc. Put some meat on those bones, right now it's a sketch that more or less just rehashes what a lot of articles mention while discussing more in-depth reporting.
The technical name for this is style of selling a product is "loss leader".
It's true, Sony has dug themselves a very deep hole. I saw that baby commercial and one with a Rubik's cube last night... the Gears of War one was a lot nicer.
