My current headphones at work go behind my ears, similar to the ones that came with UT2004 CE and they are killing my Looking for comfort and sound quality, and if possible a mic for gaming
hey i was about to make a similar thread ! thanks for it eheh , im also searching for headphones, the ones that somehow have great quality and (Weird request ) the feel of a 5.1 ( in my residence i cant play games loud like i like past 11p.m...)
i saw the ones shotgun posted and i might consider those, i was thinking on those huge ass ones that cover the whole ear , dont know if you know what i am talking about eheh...
I have these sennheiser and I love them very much. They are open type, so you still hear the sounds around, but you can never get tired of wearing those, since they are so light and soft. You can have them on all day without noticing, basically. Those are perfect for music (I can tell the difference when I switch from my Sony MDR-V6), but maybe they are not the best choice for games though.
I dunno about Sennheiser. I think you're paying a lot extra just for the name.
I spent quite a while experimenting with a mixing desk when I was choosing my last pair of headphones and I ended up buying a pair of AKG K110s over various Sennheiser and Bose headphones based on sound, build quality and price.
This may sound a little odd, but go down to Radio Shack. I got a pair from them that are just phenomenal, for a fairly reasonable price. (Radio Shack Titaniums, I believe) I really enjoyed that they let me try out about 8 different pairs, hooking up to the same DVD system to compare sound quality.
I own the QuietComfort II bose headphones, and just returned some Sennheiser 650's that a friend had loaned me. THe Sennheiser's had richer sound, but they are both very good & very comfortable. I prefer the enclosed variety personally. Maximum isolation. I wear my Bose headphones at work all day long, and never have any discomfort. My only complaint is that the bose chews through AAA batteries like crazy.
I've got these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836502005 sound quality probablly isnt anywhere near the sennheiser from what i've heard but they are pretty bad ass. Powered subs so you get really nice bass and they are loud as fuck. I really cant stand standard headphones that dont have any bass(too much treble headache, yuck) and thats why i love these.
Just stay away from Plantronics they're trash. Went through seven pairs over about a year and a half. Just kept returning them and getting new ones from circuit city...they knew by name..
I've had those for 3 years now. They are taped up a bit, but they work great. I tend to twist the headphones when I take them off my head. I only use them at work so I really don't need a built in mic, that ends up being more shit that I don't need.
The noise cancelling ones sound better, but having batteries running near my ears for 8-10 hours a day freaks me out a bit. That's just the paranoid OCD in me though.
My Dad has always held Bose higher than any other speaker brand so I've had that brand loyalty since I was younger.
They work great, and I think I found them for something like $26 online. Only problem for me is I can't hear anything outside of them :P I think I've had mine for about a year and I haven't had problems at all, and I love the sound quality. I don't think you can get much better quality for the price!
I highly recommend the Plantronics DSP 500's. Had them for three years as well and only had one problem, and that was caused by me dropping them like a thousand times. Plantronics RMA process was excellent tho.

You're the sucker who kept going back for seven pairs in a year and a half.
