Hey everyone I'm new to this site. My name is Tyler I go to the Art Institute Of Vancouver Burnaby, I'm taking the Game Art & Design program. I am graduation at the end of this December. I wish I had of joined this site along time ago it would have saved me soooooo much time lol. Oh well I look forward to getting some good feed back on my modeleing as well as my texturing. Anyway heres some things I'm working on : Colt Pistol :
I haven't been working on this piece for alittle while been working on other Eviroments. But I just want to know what you guys and gals thought of the modeling so far?
other than the wasted polys (there is a lot) it looks good, but i sure some of the gun nerds/freaks will be after you soon with all of the discrepancies.
Looks great, for a POV first person weapon model the poly count and detail level seems pretty dead on. If it were anything else it'd either be not enough or too much.
Thanks Everyone for the feed back and so quick too lol. Yeah there is some issues with the polys and such I'm trying to build this for next Gen games. I'll post my Sniper Rifle pretty quick here and see what everyone thinks of it.
Try to remember that just because poly counts for "next gen" are higher this does not give us license to waste polys. The more polys you save from areas that don't count, the more detail you can pack in some place it counts.

For the model, I see some problems with mesh flow and optimization. I see a few n-gons which are kinda ugly looking and a fair amount of wasted polys.
Looks good otherwise, though I'm no gun expert.
