so just curious, can you like request a transfer at EA to go work for any other studio they have if there's an opening? i mean pretty soon there's going to be EA studios everywhere so u would probably be able to travel quite a bit and not have to worry about always having a job. i dunno sounds like fun to me.
Soccerman: Going to be living in the city, as close to the studio as possible (hoping to get in at a place that's 2 blocks away). It's just a bit north of the Sears tower, on the other side of the river.
Rockstar: It is a transfer. But it ends up working like a new job, you have to go through the whole interview process and all that fun stuff.
Cool, Chicago must be a great place to live. I'm also leaving Virginia and moving to Orlando, and also hoping to get an apartment really close to the studio (Tiburon). Funny thing is I just got message from Mythic recruiter yesterday saying there could be some positions for me there, and when I tried so hard to get into Mythic, my portfolio wasn't up to the level. Oh well.. anyways, I hope that transfer between EA studios works, cause it would be nice to come back to VA as my family is still around here. And I'll miss winter.
And a related question: can you get to rent an apartment before going there to see it? I find it kind of painful to find an apartment. Some agencies don't want to rent an apartment before I see it in person.

It's possible in theory, but it doesn't quite work like that in practise. It isn't as simple as you make it potentially sound and all sorts of factors come into play. It's hardly something that's encouraged. But I did manage it from EA UK > EA CA. Like sinister says though, it's almost like starting a whole new job in how its handled.
Congrats Sinister, I missed an opportunity to move to Chicago a while back. Looks like a fun town for sure.
