I like the concept and think it translates well from your drawings to the finished project. I would consider increasing detail on the metal parts in the high def model. (add 'greebles')
His boots have me a little confused, I'm not sure if they're hard or soft. Maybe play around with color some more (for portfolio purposes), he is very brown.
Yeah, he needs some more variation. Even his visor/face plate is brown! Try pushing the yellow elements more, like on the boots. Maybe make the face plate thing yellow too.
Greebles, "greebles and nurnies" are details added for visual interest.
See all the bumps on the top surface that keep it from being smooth, and all the stuff on the sides that aren't functional pieces like the turrets? Greebles. So adding things like some piping and vents and plating and stuff would be "adding greebles"

a good way to make metal really pop as well as the details you should highlight all the edges of your metal.

You mean a good way to make your metal look like every other cliche video game texture made in the last 10 years? =D Do NOT highlight every edge! Pay attention to how things actually wear and detail accordingly.

Keep it up, it's very nice. :]
I have done some small changes.
JO420: I have reduced some of the gloss and tried to add more detail, add sharpness to the metal parts.
FightingChance: I have changed some normals on the boots to hard edges, and I am trying to change some colors too
'And what is "greebles"?
Jaco: I agree with that. I think I add some of the fluid/glowing stuff in to his visir, so it makes him a bit more interesting.
Thanks again.

Ghostscape: I am unable to see the image, if you can please repost it , But I think I understand what you mean
Earthquake: I agree with yoo and I won't highlight the edges.
Thanks for all the reply.
