I'm looking for some techniques you guys may have while modeling in max. I'll see if I can explain it correctly without making a bunch of images
First is how to divide a poly in half. Maybe I'm overlooking a button, but right now I use tesselate to split a poly in the middle, but since it creates a cross pattern, I'm always left cleaning up the edges I don't need. I know there is a slice tool, but I'm looking for something that would do a split dead center.
The second thing I've been wondering about is moving a vertex along an edge. How can I move a vertex and have it follow the edge rather than having to adjust all axis'?
Much help would be appreciated

2. activate either the edge or the face constraints in the edit geometry panel on the right
-Select both edges and hit connect.
-Use cut and snap your cursor to center edges. You need to setup the snap toggle, (one of the magnets at the top) right click and check the "midpoint" box. Hit "S" to activate snap tool.
Moving a vert along an edge:
In the edit geometry rollout, there's a constraints box (1st at the top) scroll down and select edge.
Edge constraints.
I knew there had to be a way, but I never knew the setting. You've just made my life easier
