I just started college (first year) and that also means its time for boring assignments! My latest of which being that I have to write a persuasive letter to a person of my choice.
Well, we are allowed to choose whomever we please, so I have chosen to write a letter to a publisher to try to persuade them to be our publisher... of course I am not expecting to.
Can someone point me to a publisher site that gives access to the publisher name and address? I have searched around but can't find any, but perhaps my search skills just suck.
Being that a large amount of you guys are in the industry I figured you would be very helpful with this.
So can anyone please help me?
Thanks!

write a letter to your teacher and persuade them to not make you have to write a letter to persuade someone

Do this.
...You couldn't just... you know...maybe use google.. and go to the site of say... a publisher....maybe one that published a game you own...or...something extremely simple like that?

well, instead of making a remark like this you should have read the original post. i have already attempted to search google but wasn't able to find any particular person and address for that person that i am supposed to contact for publishing.
and i have yet to geta game published, if i already have then i would know the address already.
as for writing a letter to my teacher, sorry to say, she made one of the rules that we cmay not write a letter to her. i assume she must have had a lot of students do this in the past, sorry

Theres an EA Address here. They don't have to reply, do they? Actually, if that is the case, do you even need an address?
If you do decide to write to them, pass on the message that they suck for me.
... but like most publishers, they have a disclaimer that states they can take full ownership of any ideas submitted to them, and you can't assert copyright. So don't include any genuine ideas in this letter, but stick to entirely fictional stuff that you couldn't care less about ...
as something to sink your teeth into and research it's a very good idea, though as you point out your chances of a positive reply are a flat 0. I hope your tutor understands this, and won't look more favourably on those that do manage to get a positive ("please can i put a save-the-puppies poster in your window")
and that is kind of annoying that they can use your ideas if they want... but then again i imagine this is more to protect them than to warn you. say if a guy sends in a publishing request about games with aliens... then ea releases a game about aliens even though it has been in production for years, but because of the disclaimer he can't do aything about it. which is good because it keeps a lot of useless, time wasting, sueing from happening. but this'll also make it hard to not give away some of the more creative ideas from my teams game... i'll figure out a way to work around it.
and thanks for the addresses, i'll probably do take 2 since i also dislike ea (as a publsiher i've heard they're horrible).
This is why making personal contacts is so important to game development. Who you know may not get you the job ... but it at least gets you in the door.
