Nice idea, I like the concept, but I have to say that I'd never guess that the body of the helmet is a tooth - the detailing is making it look more like it's made of dried out soil. Also, I'm not sure if dinosaur tooth is big enough to be made into a helmet? Either way, I'd recommend using some good references, and there are plenty around - otherwise, nobody would be able to tell what helmet is made of and your cool idea will not come across.
Yes indeed, i didn't ignore what fogmann said and will modify in consequence, but I posted the last images in a hurry, without having changed the model...
Why not model a complete dinosaur tooth, and add to it after you have the form to work from. As if you were making it by hand. Might be easier to see what would be recognizable. Check out some Turok games for reference on successful dino/tech combination for more ideas.
I know
I am going to re-do it entirely, when I have much spare time...
You can anyway check what it looked like before I saw all of your comments on my website...
This time around you should maybe consider adding bigger over all details to the tooth to give it more of an interesting shape, right now all of the micro detail just looks like a stencil in z brush.

I applied the normal map(which has to be retouched), diffuse and specular to come, combined with DirectX9 Metal and Glow.
Here is the Hi-Poly:
Still hope you'll like it... (Yes, I'm hangin on!)
See you
I'd like to see it placed onto a head to get a good idea of how it's supposed to be oriented.
Still hangin on...
See you
