You can download free video tutorials from www.3dbuzz.com and www.digitaltutors.com. I started working with XSI 4.2 one and a half year ago (bought XSI Foundation for my freelancing work)and I really love it. Before I started using XSI I made the switch from Max to Maya and I think it is much easier to go from Maya to XSI than to go from Max to XSI.

I'd go with the vid tutorials from 3dbuzz.com as well. I had some time last year to play around with XSI and those vids got me up and running in a few hours
