The design and colors are very nice. He kind of reminds me of a card guard from Alice in wonderland because of the clover shape in the front of the apron.

the design is solid, in the sense that it is an interesting character. now you need to push the texture. tighty up and paint your edges and seems, start pushing the contrast and introduce variety in your colors. add some finely placed grittiness. take your time and see if you can polish him up a bit. love the mustache. i'm growing one out and he's called mustang. *pkeow!*

Perhaps you could add the traditional harlequin diamond check pattern to the arms and legs, although that may look too busy.

the current starburst pattern draws attention to his crotch, I'd pull it up a bit so it draws attention up towards the face, as it's pulling my eye towards uninteresting parts of the model. imo
