WTF? windows media player not working right?

Has anyone ever had there videos not play right in WMP?
I'm getting the videos to play back super dark. The thumbnails look fine, but any video, quicktime, wmv, mpeg4, anything is super dark and fucked. Ive never seen anything like it. It doesnt seem like a codec issue, because they are playing, but this really sucks.

if it helps, I reformated recently, copied all my work and animation files over to an external HDD, then put them back. Now they dont play right.
I also downloaded divx and quicktime, just to be sure, but theyre screwed no matter what program I run them in.

Any ideas?

go to View>Enhancments>Videosettings... make sure your brightness slider isnt messed up or something

check the video overlay settings for your graphics card, if it's messing with all video regardless of app, it might be screwed up in there.
