Wondering if anyone can help me out here, i was playing hl2 the other day and everything froze up so i had to manually restart the system, but I was unable (untill about 5 minutes ago) get past the windows load screen because it would just restart itself as if there wasnt enough power. I checked my bios and everything was normal except the +12v line which was reading 11.34-11.5.
I finally managed to get a into windows somehow and check my readings there using aida32, and the +12v is now reading 2.43-3.1 at most. Could this be whats causing the problem? i just want to be sure before i shell out the cash for a new psu. thanks.

It could be the mobo too i guess.
And running your computer on unstable power is not very smart thing to do.

Open up your case and look at the fans. See if they are all working and not making any noise. Also, check the CPU heatsink for dust bunnies. Sounds like an overheating issue. If you can turn the computer back on after it's sat for a while, then it's likely because the computer was able to cool back off.

its defenintely not a heat problem, it's not turning off, just restarting itself at high load times like windows bootup. Thanks though.
I actually had a big problem with overheating a couple years ago but took the necesary precautions to prevent it from returning.
