2gb on one stick has always been much more expensive than two 1gb sticks as hawken said. if you want a 4gb stick you'll have to take out a 2nd mortage!
True but i havent seen them go up like this in a long time, I hadnt been paying attention for a few months but i thought it had been steadily going down for a while. Perhaps its more widespread use of DDR2 and the like bringing DDR sales up?(not selling as well?) i dont know.
Your point? If you read the thread i stated that i purchased 1 gig(2 x 512) for $80, and which is now going for $125(and it wasnt a special, or if it was it was only a few dollars difference) with the 2x1gb units selling at $230 or so. I know i may look stupid but comparing 1 gig to 2? =D

If it wasn't selling as well, then that would cause the price to drop. Maybe it's selling just as well as (or better than) a few months ago, but companies are reducing their production of DDR in favor of DDR2, which would result in less supply (therefore higher prices).
yeh eq i payed $270 CND for 2 gigs of ram .. and i thought that was pretty reasonable .. just a few years ago a 512 dimm would set you back close to $100 CND

and yeah, crap is expensive, 2 igs of ram here cost a testicle too...
Upgrading my ram is probably one of the most expensive things I've done with my computer recently.
This is exactly what i got for under $80 earlier this year:
