so piors cow warrior reminded me of something I tried a while ago which was pasting a piece of concept art onto a plane and making a model by hacking it to pieces ( http://www.redprodukt.com/post/golem.jpg )
and it gave me the idea for a tag thing where each person makes a fairly vague texture and the other person figures out a model from it .
So this thread is to show tags- and if anyone else wants to start their own, or re-do one of the existing tags, go for it!
haha sorry, each person makes a texture first, and has to make a model using the other persons texture. I guess its like tag team wrestling where they take turns to fight?
edit: anything where you can compare 3d modelling to wrestling is good right
This is a sweet idea. I don't have time at the moment to make a new texture, maybe in a couple of days i'll contribute. But anyways, heres my interpretation of the Fomo2 texture.
also heres a random texture to contribute. Started off with litle to no direction ,and eventually formed a thought, but I want to see if it piques anyone elses imagination
I have a very precise idea of what to do with Rooster's green texture. Loving these mechanical bits on your texture Valias, I might aswell use them too!
I love this exercise because it really gets one to understand somebody else's texturing process. It's so much better than just saving a texture to a reference folder that never gets browsed...
Don't worry rooster, I'm keeping true to my word.
I wasn't going to post anything until I had finished it. But its just taking me so long to do it. I'm working on this during my lunch break at work.
Very wippish.
Looks a bit messy now but it should get better after i filled the holes.
I kinda like this way of modelling...needs a lot more planning ahead tho. :]
Well that was refreshing. Might finish it up later. Took a lot longer than I thought it would. I assume it's much easier to do this from your own concept since you'd have prior knowledge of where everything went instead of making it up as you go.
If I may suggest to future texture flat makers, vary the texture slightly. It'd be nice to have a second hue/value (and also shadowed areas) for breaking up shapes. My biggest problem was trying to get this thing to read properly.
That helmet looks sweet Slaught! Love it.
Looks like I'm gonna have to beef up my mini bot to match up to yours.
Spacey, good job with your model as well dude! I really like the idea with the planes around the arm.
I'M SO STEALING THAT!

Quicky before I go to sleep.I'll make a couple more and animate a scene just using your texture. This is fun stuff.
really fun excersize
