Just checked Amazon, they say "ships within 1-2 weeks" but some googling revealed it's getting released on the 20th (UK only, AFAIK) for 10 quid. If you have a PS2, get that game! It feels like Crimsonland in 3d at times.

The sequel (Earth Defence Force 3/X) is for the XBox 360, it's getting released at the end of the year in Japan, no idea when/if it's coming to the west.

And it's a freaking stroke of genius that all the enemies are so huge, that way you can hit them accurately with dual analog controls even at large distances. I never found myself thinking "I wish this had mouse aim".
