looking at my concept again today, I hate it even more than I did yesterday -- is that supposed to be that whole "humble growing artist" attitude? Anyway, I'm going on the record to say I intend my bust to only look a little like my concept
edit:
Revised concept - less alienish, more human/shark-ey.
Hey guys, I just wanted to throw this out there.. I'd really like to see what you're working on, though I can't seem to connect to your (Askhat) server to view the images. Don't go out of your way or anything, but I just wanted to let you know, it's not that I don't care; I just can't view the images as it is, and I am very interested in watching this develop.
Alright.. got that out of they way... rock on fellas..
JI, I love the style for both pieces you did, but I gotta say im a fan of your first one more then this piece. im just really not understanding the face on this one. I think its the 3 nostrals I guess. maybe if you were to give it a sharp point like a shark on the nose and gills somewhere...or better yet...hammerhead? anyways, just my 2 cents, I cant wait to see these things.
Purpose of this whole thing is to motivate us to do something different, and a little bit crazy... a loose and fresh topic to just go nuts on, and keep each other motivated all friendly like
We're thinking of doing another challenge after this one too, if anyone's interested people are welcome to do their own too.
Awesome job guys! Lately at Ensemble we have been doing a speedmodeling thing during lunch (The Bird, DH, Monster, and others) It would be nice to start something here, someone throws out something to do, then we spend an hour working on something to post in the thread. Just an idea, and something to keep the creative juices going.
One crit i have for you askhat and i've seen this happen quite a bit in your other models, is that you dont have enough mid-range details, you have cloth folds that dont affect the mass of the model at all, just projection master details that come off really flat.
Man, I missed this. Great stuff from both of you! Competition always helps push your skills. Would be cool to trade off base meshes, and take turns sculpting each sub d level. At least I think it would be cool.
