I would say at the moment the original has more personality, and cooler proportions, but I understand its WIP. Wish my crits were constructive but I cant think of anything else to say
reminds me of Glaciar from Killer Instinct, his mid section muscles are lookin a little globby i hope your planning on smoothing them out. the head is lookin cool i like.
tacit math, are you still stiching together screen grabs for those turn arounds? You know you can just save out a animation and convert it to gif in imageready...
also, he needs more edge loops on the shoulders and calves. Also wasting a shit load of polys all around. If it doesnt help the outline form then its not worth having.
i could afford to knock a few poly's out here and there it's true. and they wouldn't hurt the silhouette. but given the cap on this comp i don't think i'll let it bother me too much. this is not good professional practice i know. but i'm confident i could weed out the bulk of them if i needed
Great work. I'd never even heard of this character before hehe, but the redesign (and style) are great.
I think it could do with a bit more definition between the pectoral and the deltoid, and making the ankles more pronounced would probably make the silhouette of the lower half of the body more interesting.
Very cool redesign!
The backs of his calves are very oddly sharp (i'm sure someone made a similar crit on a different model of yours recently too, maybe check that out )
Are you going to put any colour in the texture at all? I think some subtle hues would really sell this guy. At the moment he just looks like you haven't textured him.
thanks mop. good critique. the point made of his calves is fair. while i quite like that ' peak '. in retrospect it does come off maybe too sharp here in contrast with the rest of this figure ( i totally want it that way in the other ). i'll take special care of that in future. as far as the texture treatment is concerned. i tried a lot of variations. trying to get some colours in. yet still keep him clean and white. i couldn't quite get there though. i've so much to learn of texturing. i'll keep pluggin' at it right. really enjoyed this comp. ghost's blanka was cute as fuck. and rose and zangief are pro as. but my vote's with dudley. solid
Sorry, I just re-read your "fin" post - I mis-read it as "entry complete" first time, hence my texture crits - I guess you just never really got round to that
And yes, this has been a very impressive comp, loads of solid turnouts!

started roughing in his form and proportions. the blade hands are just a dummy for the moment
