heres some progress on cammy white. I wanted to revert her from the current US army hat and leotard, back to the Red Delta look she had, combined with UK army or UN army styling. Also dropping the anime face in favour of something more butch and square-jawed. Might make variation costumes for the final model, but thats a long way off.

yeah I though the same, but if you look at boots of this nature, they are quite flat.
What the best way to add an edge loop in max without spending ages on it or ending up with 5 sided polygons etc? Add verts? I'm stuck, and so not used to "edit poly" it hurts.
Select the verticle edge you want to bisect, click 'ring' to select the entire ring around the model, and use the connect button under the 'edit edges' section.
or, select the ring of polys, an use a slice plane at the point you want the loop.
if you don't want it precicely in the center of two existing loops, you can always grab a horizontal edge, click 'loop' to grab the entire loop, and chamfer it.
Really looking forward to seeing more than just her boots!

kind of. I'm an edit poly luddite, consistently avoiding it due to the fucked up keyboard shortcuts.
I've bitten the bullet and weened myself off edit mesh.

PS. I always model from the feet up, is that strange? I never seem to block shapes either, opting for strip modelling with lots of tweak-as-u-go
