Think I may just have to enter my very first Polycount challenge. Going to do an Akuma redesign (hoping it's okay if the same character is done twice within the contest. If not, I can change it.)
Okay, here's a quick doodle to try nand show what I'm going after. Trying to show evil powers possesing Akuma and physically changing his appearence. Going to have the flesh on his hands and arms appear to be ripping away to reveal more demonic looking pieces.
Th emain idea is that he is in the early stages of becoming possessed by evil. Hoping to get to the model sometime this week
Started the 3d, still need to do the eyes and the spheres are placeholder for the gigantic prayer beads. I'll be using this as a base for my high poly model. Thanks for looking!
Thanks for the comments guys. I am kind of straying a bit from my concept. It wasn't really intentional at first, but I'm liking the way this looks more
Just a tiny update for tonight, I'm feeling really tired for some reason. Added the feet, although I may be changing them later on. Messed around with the wrinkles a little more. Still not sure if I should add sandals or not...Seems that some drawings have them and others don't.
Yeah, I'm struggling to see the re-design for this character. He's looking pretty much the same, only in 3D form.
But in the end, it's your model and your entry. So my only crit would be that the creases in the pants (just under the pocket area) is looking a little weird to me. Seems to be flowing un-naturally, like its flowing in the wrong direction. It could be just me seeing as no one else has mentioned this earlier.
Otherwise, nice looking model dude, keep it up!
If you could I think it would look badass to have the Shirt part of the gi drapped down just being held up by the belt. Would give some headache for animating but if done right the secondary movement of it would be cool. Ofcourse this isn't an animation challenge so it is not like that matters.
Thanks for the comments guys, I really appreciate them.
I'll admit, I am definitly driifting away from my idea and back to the original concept. I may just end up doing a costume variation, playing with colours etc.
As Caseyjones said, the thigh area on he pants is flowing incorrectly, sticks out like a sore thumb. From the knee down it looks great though.
I would also say the biceps are a little balloon-like, give them a little more definition and theyll look great. Also, his index finger is as long as his face.
Hey Guys, thanks for the comments.
been chipping away at this guy all weekend, created the low poly, unwrapped and normal mapped him. I also did a little more refining on his pants, arms and face. I believe the final polycount sits at 9165 tris (if not then it's not far off from there.)
Thanks guys, Really appreciate the feedback. I've shrunk his beads, fixed his elbow up (more bone detail, less puffy...although it's not pictured.) I've been texturing his face/chest and laying down basic colours as well.

Been roughing out the body's base mesh...but I think I'll end up going back and reworking some of it.

but it seems like your straying from your original concept by giving him a shirt.
...but I prefer him without a shirt, looked much more interesting. with the shirt, he just reminds me of DBZ too much.
