Answers to some questions:
<ul type="square">[*]"this is any SF game correct? So SFEX characters are allowed?"
Yes, any Street Fighter game is fine.
[*]"any rule against multiple people making the same character? "
Nope.
[*]"for those of us that own silo, is there any type of consolation prize?"
I will have to figure something out. =]
[*]"How much of a redesign do we need here? Is it just a med/high poly interpretation of the existing material, or an overall rework of the character design, but with some recognizable elements? Does it matter?"
An overall rework with some recognizable elements is what we are shooting for more than just a high-poly version. Think in the lines of "If I had done this character, I would have done this...."

If more time is needed, I can definately extend the deadline a bit. That's why none of the rules were written in stone just yet.
Rules are as follows:
* 10,000 polycount limit
* 1024x1024 texture space budget used however you see fit. This goes for spec, normal, etc, as well.
* Final entry will need (1) wire frame shot, (1) flat texture shot and (1) posed beauty render
* Character MUST be from the Street Fighter universe ONLY. This means no Marvel characters just because there was Marvel v. Capcom.
Is pior disqualified for having already started? =D

nice one
i'm looking into seeing if i can get a simple engine in which to port the characters to for a simple fighting game.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd avoid this - Capcom owns the IP.
KoF ?
Is there any way we can get the challenge forum cleaned up a bit? There are a lot of old and outdated threads stickied that are really just taking up space. Obviously, it would be nice to keep the threads announcing the winners. Maybe all the winners be consolidated into one thread (that would remain locked) that could be updated by an admin, showing the entries/winners for each challenge as they come.
Just a suggestion, though...
*shrugs* weird stuff.

Capcom's very lenient on fan works as long as they don't put them down or any third parties as well as not having any profit.
Also, any rule against multiple people making the same character?

There shouldn't be.

Silo was used in almost all the characters I have built for my current game.

something is broken. I always archive the challenge details and results but some of them seem to have dual identities and won't budge from this forum listing. If you click on them, they do actually live in the archive forum!
Something about this forums database, a bit cranky. Good old green
The other thing about winners threads, I've been doing exactly that for more than an a year. Have you been living under a rock??
Well it's an unrewarding task - save for the wonderful entries

Because of this, are we allowed to take a guy that someone has already nabbed? Because we're taking a character and modifying it in some way- the result SHOULD be different, no? I'm thinking I might have a bash..
can i make her despite being in samurai shodown?
what part of "only in SF" don't you understand
any chance the old stickies can be removed?:
New polycount uniforms

For some good reference I recommend picking up the Street Fighter Udon Comics which have some pretty suhweet art in it.
Hadoken!
Convenient images of all the characters from all the Street Fighter games including EX.

The wikipedia EX article doesn't have pictures of all of the characters.
Silo are nice guys. They replied to my email! (that I sent about director support)
Whilst not the best for reference - it shows the clear clothes they wear, and how they changed throughout the iterations..
Thanks Silo guys~!...
(Thanks, silo team)
