Last year's was crap, I went with my kids for the hell of it. It was all about merchants selling stuff, nothing to do with professional/indy game making. Some "exhibitors" were nothing more than a pile of flyers promoting their crap.
This year's may be better, but I doubt it.
Not to mention it was a huge nerd/anime fest, which really isn't my thing.

It wasn't. Huge waste of time and money. The trip itself was fun, got to get out of Pittsburgh for a weekend and meet some interesting people. The Xpo itself was horrible. Poorly organized, fanboy heaven, and there was an anime convention next door. All-in-all I wish I had listened to the warnings, but I wanted to give it a chance atleast.
At the end of the game design seminar (I went to 2 hours out of 2 full days of it) they had a portfolio review. There were no employers checking out portfolio's, but random people, mainly from schools, saying "looks good...looks good...this works...uh huh" to really bad, non-game related, anime sketches. There was one guy with a decent portfolio, and he didn't get a single good critique on his work.
I met one of the editors for XPlay, a foul mouthed drunk chick. And Lee met Tommy from one of those G4 shows, apparently he's a douche bag. This convention was a joke.
[edit] Oh yeah, lee and I placed second in a Company of Heroes tournament...after learning the game 5 minutes prior. Might get a free video card out of it. [/edit]
The game career seminar was an absolute joke. If i hadn't already gotten a job, I would of complained about the all the common sense that they offered and asked for my money back. The seminar was clearly focused on "I'm and game developer, i'm awesome. This is what I do if you got a job doing this" There wasn't anything in the program which helped future game developers at all.
It was great to meet Chris and we had a great time. We finally found a decent place to eat a philly cheesesteak in valley forge. We kicked major ass in CoH having never played it before against 2 other teams who actually owned the game! Chris's tanks and my airborne rangers owned them all!!!

There was also a Anime convention in the same hotel that weekend with men dressed up in sailormoon outfits. Some people have no shame!
