I think he's refering to the announcement that the games won't be in 1080p... or that they haven't reached production like they expected (xmas reference).
Japan is getting 100,000 units at launch. Hopefully we'll be able to torture the Japanese with pictures of unwanted PS3's sitting on our store shelves, payback for the Xbox 360..
The problem with the ps3 is that it's too expensive, and they took out features that they had previously..no rumble? Really.
But I know there will be idiots out there who will sell something important to get one.
It's funny most people I talk to are saying the same thing, "I'll buy one just so I can resell it". It only works if supply is less than demand. With them still unable to make thier shipping goals demand might still be high, but there is enough sony bashing going around to make me think it could be a weak launch.
Maybe that is Sony's master plan make everyone not want one, but jack the price so high that the resale profit is too good to pass up, then when everyone can't sell it they will have to keep it and start playing games.
While I'm as happy to kick Sony while they're down as the next man, lets not get too excited about the Wii just yet. I'd say theres a good chance it'll get pushed back too.
I think it's pretty surprising that they're shipping 80% of their units to the US. I think the reason this happened is because Sony thinks of the PS3 as their Bluray secret weapon, not as a game console. Europe has PAL, and thus less of a need for a Bluray machine. They might actually win the HD movie battle because of this decision. I couldn't care less. All Sony cares about is beating Toshiba. So stupid. . .
I think the only thing that will get me to buy a PS3 is what got me to buy a PS2, the Shadow of the Colossus team. I figure I've got about 3 years until they release another game, and I might even own a HDTV by then. But, right now, I have no use for a Bluray player.
This is another example of hype killing a possibly good product. Fable wasn't a bad game, but its hype said it was going to be the best RPG ever made.
Sony's CEO is a hype machine, saying people will get another job to buy a PS3, that its not a video game console, its a computer, and chiding microsoft for the dual format, Core and premium, then doing the same. The lack of rumble is just pure weak on sony's part, you should of payed up to immersion. I mean, you DID actually use their tech, its not like they had just pattened shaking controllers.

I'm going to sit infront of the mall, walk into the store and hand over a fat check to purchase ALL their PS3 inventory.
Maybe a 5-10% markup at most.

I just gave a scalper outside AT&T Stadium a very stern look. It made him ache inside. You could tell.
I will laugh until I bleed if people go out and buy 3+ PS3's at launch and get stuck with them and the debt they created with them.
