I have thought about it and I agree with you guys. It really is art, and that word has some meaning. This guy is doing somthing very marginally artistic and so is a very marginal artist.
I wasn't trying to shit on photography. I completely consider it an art since it has all the elements of composition that are so important in all the visual arts, but the guy didn't even take the photo he traced. It is from the chick's website. When I was talking about an artist painting the results like a photo, I was thinking of any random photo taken by an amatuer.
What I learned from this guy was that I should probably do some execises like his images to learn better the colors that are actually in skin. I really don't think his art has any merit, and I am not going to bother looking at more than a couple, but as a training process it is very nice and plan to give it a shot.
