humm I'm not so sure I like the photochopped scarf next to the hand painted textures. I think a fleece scarf would work better than a knit one. The knit will also show stretching, which could be bad... I say keep it hand painted and don't mess with the style. OR if you are hell bent on keeping it knit work the texture to blend better with the hand painted.
Damn, I completely forgot to update this thread, I actually finished the character a while ago. Anyway, not much updated really, I just finished the hands and goggles and I've uploaded the texture sheets if anyone's interested. Thanks again for all the feedback...and yes, I was thinking Captain Morgan
That standing shot looks great, There's a real interesting quality to the texture, it's very simple, yet the character's form and the cloth folds come out very well. I know you're done with this character; but I do think that the form really comes out through the lighting, and that the texture could help a bit more in that respect. I'd be interested in seeing some unlighted shots.
Anyway, I think she's really cool looking, great model, and the folds rock!
In the Captain Morgan pic she is unlit. As for what you were talking about, it is true that the lighting is what brings the form out, but frankly I was gearing this model towards the Source engine, which does lighting very nicely. I looked at some of Valve's textures from HL2 and they don't have any lighting in them at all. I did add some form definition in the textures though, but it's subtle and it's meant to accent the engine's lighting.

Here's a quick rig test. I know the pose doesn't suit the character, but what the hell
