This isnt my typical pimp...anyways this is a homebrew DS game I made. I just started learning how to program and this has kinda been my learning project. It's pretty basic, you tap green bugs to squash them, blue ones you have to stroke quickly over to flip them on their back then squash them. Below I have a link to the .nds files in case anyone has the homebrew hardware or an emulator, the second link is to Dualis a popular emulator, and last is some screenshots.

Tinman, what programs and tutorials are you using to help you make this? Only reason I ask, is because I have an Independant Study course coming up where I can do whatever I want related to Game Design, so long as its approved by the professor, and this would be a pretty cool thing to learn.

That, and it looks really cool. Nice grime and gunk going on there.

That is a cool idea And thank you for giving us the libraries. Have always wanted to try modding on other platforms, and DS seems to be a good choice. Any ideas on making some kind of gamepack with lots of small games like you designed? Something like Wario Ware, but with more innovation.

Thanks for all of the comments, it was kinda cool to do because even though it's not an uber complicated game by any means it helped me learn a lot of things. It took me just under a month to make it, that was with me still learning C++ and just learning the DS.

I would like to add that if anyone is thinking about trying out C++ or wanting to prototype game ideas in general, this is an excellent way to start, getting a sprite on the DS screen will take you no time and not much code at all, and you can go from there.

So, basically all we have to do is follow the tutorials and we'll be able to make something like you did? If so cool. I had an idea for a really simple game for the DS where you play a microbe and eat other microbes to level up RPG style (like the old Evolution game for the SEGA Genesis), this will hopefully let me do that.

It wouldnt hurt to learn some C++ to get in the mindset, the wiki does have a learn C section so you may be able to get up to speed with that.
