Well, the time has come. I am graduating in 6 months...And I am ready to start working on some projects that will really show off everything I've learned in the past 2 years...For better or worse..
Goal: Come up with 2 completely awesome characters.
I will start with concepts, and work my way all the way through to rigging and texturing. These characters will be highpoly, then transferred down to low in zbrush. I will be concentrating on creating characters that make good use of normal mapping while still retaining great textures.

Progress:
Been tinkering what his various parts will look like. This concept is juts a rough, its not meant to be all rendered out, and the weapon is still being worked out.
Any thoughts on the color scheme? Proportions?
, becuase only one person has even commented on it the entire time it's been on here .
Let me know what you guys think. I really don't wanna invest time into this, if I'm the only one who thinks it's cool. I want a strong porfolio piece with the model on this.. So if you think this isn't salvagable tell me...If you think somethign needs work tell me that too.
Im working on some different colors, and adding some war symbols and details to his armor.
Thanks
Only one of your images is loading for me (image from your second post), I don't know if anyone else is having the same problems, if so maybe that's why people aren't commenting, because they can't see what they are commenting on.
But from the image I can see, I'm liking it so far. It obviously could be pushed further in the armour department. Also, why is there a cable attached the gun? Maybe you could give him a backpack that powers the weapon or something.
Don't get discouraged dude because the people on these forums have awesome comments and crits to share.
Keep it up!

Concepting the `form` before the `detail` is the correct procedure, so keep at that.
Also native american + sci-fi is potentially very cool, I`d say push more of it into the sci-fi, bring more in with the details, and maybe mix it up some more with another culture.
I think the execution could be much better. You need to paint some directional light and their shadows to show off the form. Ther character doesn't have any sense of anatomy -- like he could have cylinder shaped limbs and torso under the suit. The most glaring problem in the 3/4 view is that his legs are too long.
I think the design is cool and has a lot of potential but I don't think you have really reached it yet. I would do another colored verion of the same character.
As far as work flow is concerned, I would start with the silouette, then paint in directional light using that to define the forms, and then adjusting material colors and values later.
One last thing. I don't like the look of soft edges brushes, and I wouldn't use them.
Drawings will be posted after they are finished
that mesh is lookin cool so far and i really like the idea of native american space man. i think you could push the design further though, for example - why is a native american in a space suit? is he collecting magical space dust with which to go on interstellar drug trips? Is he hunting space beasts? thinking about these things can really make the design process much easier and more fun.
also, maybe think about taking traditional native american costumes/armor and adding a sci-fi twist to it.
keep it up dude!
fixed the cranium near the ear after the post...

often i see people who do great concepts and are not quite as good at the modelling side for some reason, but you seem to be better at modelling.
And yes Ruz, I wish I was better at 2d, I am workin on that, but modeling is something I really love and seems to come to me more naturally,\.
