I want my Polycount!

Recently the geniuses at my college decided to update their banned sites list. And guess what site made their list. Yep...Polycount. Ugh...I don't really understand why. The only thing I can think of is the fact that it's part of the gamespy network? I dunno. Anyone else out there have any ideas as to why or have other sites big brother has blocked them from for no apparant reason?

my IRC connection was banned for the first 4 days of college. that was sheer torture. dunno if someone else complained or what but now im back! woot!

Poopinmymouth I can kinda understand. It might filter through as Dutch Porn. hehe, Try www.mr-chompers.com. Same site, different name.
As far as talking to the admins, it's a "corporate thing" I've been told. Local admins have no control over it really, they just set up the proxy.
Blocking IRC at school I can understand also, it's a chat based program.
Even though the board is run independantly by Vito, I still get Gamespy Ads every now and again, maybe that's what's throwing up the flag. There are actually several Industry Profressional sites I'm blocked from. It's not like I'm asking you guys to "rate my hottness" (which would be a 10 btw :]) though. Still stupified. I guess the only argument I can see is it not being school related. But...there are countless amounts of resources here that I've used, and been able to reference while in class. Damn the man.

If you JUST go to the boards, you shouldn't get anything gamespy at all. If you go to polycount.com and then try to get to the boards, you will be blocked. they are probably using WebSense (just a guess) to block content and that application usually blocks game related sites by default.

Well it turns out there was enough of a stink that they lifted a lot of the blocked sites. We weren't able to even go to teacher's personal sites. But they brought back Myspace. Ugh. Looks like I'll have to fight for space in a lab full of Myspacers again. So...I got my polycount back! :]
